About: Troy Buckner Southampton NY

Troy Buckner functions as a well-known private art dealer based in Southampton, New York. After founding Clark Fine Arts in 1998, Buckner exhibited artwork by a wide range of contemporary artists, many of whom lived and worked in the Hamptons in the summertime. Earning the respect of artists and his fellow collectors alike, Troy Buckner built on his experience with Clark Fine Arts and now deals primarily in the secondary art market. He also advises and consults for many collectors in the area.

At Clark Fine Arts, Troy Buckner garnered media attention with a distinctive Larry Rivers show called ?Lost Drawings from the 50s and 60s,? which uncovered a trove of portrait drawings from an early stage in the artist?s career. The suite of drawings exhibited a range of technical approaches, including collage, erasure, and traditional Renaissance modeling. Art in America Magazine featured Buckner's exhibit in a 2002 article titled "Drawings, Lost and Found."

Currently,  Troy Buckner handles works by some of the most important modern artists, including Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein. Buckner handles many other prominent artists while operating his private dealership, such as sculptor John Chamberlain. Working from a nearby studio on Long Island, John Chamberlain crafted sculptures with scrap and sheet metal for his exhibits, often using the twisted hunks of metal from junkyard automobiles. Troy Buckner has held an affinity for modern sculpture since his youth, when he spent hours watching his father cast bronze pieces at various local foundries.

Spending most of the year in Southampton, along with frequent trips to Manhattan, Troy Buckner is strategically situated to interact with a great many artists and collectors. Often patronizing various local fundraisers and industry events, Buckner regular attends such gatherings as the Parrish Art Museum Midsummer Party, the Longhouse Preserves Summer Benefit, and Nello?s Summertime.
